US tobacco laws
The American Nonsmokers' Rights Foundation has tracked, collected, and analyzed tobacco control ordinances, by-laws, and Board of Health regulations since the early 1980s.
This information has formed the basis for the ANR Foundation's U.S. Tobacco Control Laws Database©, a national collection of local ordinances and board of health regulations containing provisions on clean indoor air, restrictions on youth access to tobacco, tobacco sales and distribution restrictions, tobacco advertising and promotion restrictions, tobacco excise taxes, and conditional use permits. State laws are also included on the topic of clean air.
Each local law has been analyzed by our Policy Analysts before being entered into this extensive database. It is a unique resource in the field of tobacco control, and unique in the field of public health in general. Information drawn from the database is used by researchers, health departments, and advocates to help advance their tobacco control efforts.
